Sai Baba placed great importance on the reading of specific divinely inspired books for the spiritual welfare of his devotees. As detailed in Chapter 18, the two main texts were the Bhagavad Gita, specifically the commentary known as Jnaneshwari or Bhavartha Deepika by Jnandeva, and the eleventh Skandha of the Bhagavat, also referred to as the Uddhava Gita or Nath Bhagawat.
