Where did Maharaj live when he first came to the area, and what was the general environment like for holy men at that time?

Upon his arrival, Maharaj took up residence in a Masjid that was in a dilapidated state, as described in Chapter 0. He would spend his nights there, though he moved about during the day. The area itself was frequented by many holy figures. The text explains that it was on a walking path for pilgrims heading to major holy sites like Rameshwar and Pandharpur, so many saints passed through. For instance, a saint named Janakidas stayed for many days and spent a lot of time with Maharaj. The famous Gangagir Baba also visited. This environment provided a backdrop for interactions between Maharaj and other spiritually advanced individuals.
