When Dr. Pillay begged for death due to his immense suffering, how did Sai Baba respond and what did it reveal about enduring karma?

📖 Chapter 34

In Chapter 34, when Dr. Pillay's suffering from guinea-worms became unbearable, he pleaded with Sai Baba to end his life, offering to endure his karma over ten future births. Baba's response was filled with compassion and profound wisdom. He sent a message telling Pillay to be fearless and gently chided him for asking for death when Baba himself could grant liberation. Instead of eliminating the suffering, Baba proposed a different solution: "Why the burden of ten births? Let us suffer the consequence of only ten days by dividing it between us." He then had Dr. Pillay brought to him, demonstrating that while the fruits of past actions (Prarabdha) must be faced, the grace of a Saint can alter the duration and intensity of the suffering, making it bearable.
