When Bhil robbers attacked Kashiram, why did he kill them to protect his bundle of treasure?

According to the account in Chapter 0, Kashiram did not fight the Bhil robbers to protect money or treasure. The text clearly states that the bundle the thieves tried to take contained only powdered sugar, not treasure. In fact, Kashiram did not object when the thieves took his other belongings. He fought fiercely to protect the sugar bundle because it was very dear to him, as he carried it following the advice of a saint named Janakidas Baba to feed ants. He ended up killing two thieves to protect this specific, sentimentally valuable item.
