When an epidemic struck Shirdi, the villagers created strict rules. What was Baba's perspective on these rules, and how did he react?

📖 Chapter 23

As recounted in Chapter 23, when an epidemic or Mahamari terrified the villagers of Shirdi, they made rules to stop all traffic and prevent outsiders from entering. Sai Baba did not approve of these superstitious beliefs, viewing them as bad ideas born from the people's ignorance. He had no fear of the fines imposed for breaking the rules and would actively 'curdle' or counter the villagers' decisions. A prime example was when a firewood cart was stopped at the village gate. Baba personally intervened, standing before the cart to ensure it could enter, thereby breaking the villagers' stubborn adherence to the rule.
