What were the 'two paise' that Sai Baba's Guru demanded from him?

📖 Chapter 19

According to the narrative in Chapter 19, Sai Baba explains that the 'two paise' his Guru asked for were not literal currency. When Baba's Guru asked for two paise, Baba gave them immediately, but he clarifies that his Guru was one whose desires were fulfilled and had no use for worldly money. Instead, the two paise represented the essential virtues of "Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi)." Baba states, "Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi)—these were the two paise, nothing else; I gave them to him then and there, and thus my Guru-Mother was pleased with me." This story illustrates that the true price of discipleship and receiving grace is not material wealth but the internal cultivation of unwavering faith and steadfast patience.
