What were the spiritual qualifications that, according to the text, gave a person the right to live on alms?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 9

Chapter 9 outlines very specific and high-level spiritual qualifications for one to rightfully live on alms. It is not a life for just anyone. Firstly, a person must renounce the three primary desires: the desire for sons, the desire for wealth, and the desire for fame. Secondly, and most profoundly, one must have the firm realization and determination that they are the "imperishable Supreme Brahman" and that "the whole universe is my home." Only such a "universal family member," who has transcended worldly attachment and identity, should wish to live on alms. Sai Baba, being a great Siddha, possessed these qualities.
