What were the main scriptures Baba had people read in Shirdi and why were they so important to him?

Sai Baba placed immense importance on the daily reading of specific sacred texts for the spiritual welfare of his devotees. As detailed in Chapter 18, the two main books were the commentary on the Gita known as Jnaneshwari (or Bhavartha Deepika), and the eleventh Skandha of the Bhagavat, which contains the Uddhava Gita. Baba considered this latter dialogue between Krishna and Uddhava to be even superior to the one with Arjuna. He assigned Bapusaheb Jog the task of reading these scriptures aloud daily in Sathe's Wada, often sending devotees who came to see him to go and listen, demonstrating his profound method for bestowing grace and instruction.
