After Tatya Patil arrived, Baba would get ready, wearing His kafni and taking His satka and chilim. Tatya would place a beautiful golden-bordered shawl over Him. Following this, Baba would go to a spot where a bundle of firewood was kept, move His right big toe there for a moment, and then wave His right hand over the burning flame to extinguish it. Only after personally putting out this flame would Sai Baba set out for the Chavadi, signaling the start of the procession's music and festivities.
