Before departing for the Chavadi, Sai Baba performed a consistent series of actions. As detailed in Chapter 37, after Tatya Patil helped Him up, Baba would go to a wall where firewood was kept and move His right big toe at that spot. Then, in a significant ritual, He would wave His right hand over the burning dhuni flame to extinguish it before setting out.
