What were Sai Baba's instructions and conditions for the author who wished to compile His stories?

When the author expressed a desire to create a collection of stories, Sai Baba felt compassion and gave his full support. According to Chapter 2, Sai Baba's primary condition was for the author to completely dissolve his ego and surrender it at His feet. By doing so, Sai promised His full assistance, stating, "He is merely a pretext; I myself shall write my own story!" Sai assured him that for one who acts this way, He would not only help with the story but serve him in all ways. The work of hearing, reflecting, and writing would then be accomplished by the divine, with the author serving only as an instrument.
