What was the vow Cholkar made to Sai Baba, and why did it take him so long to fulfill it?

📖 Chapter 15

Cholkar, a man from a poor household, faced an important examination to secure his job permanently. As described in Chapter 15, he made a vow to Sai Baba that if he passed the exam by Baba's grace, he would visit Shirdi and distribute sugar candy (khadisakhar) in Baba's name. After his wish was granted and he passed, there was a significant delay in fulfilling this vow. The text explains this by using the metaphor of the 'threshold-ghat,' stating that for a worldly man, covering home expenses is a very difficult obstacle to cross. This implies that financial constraints and the cost of the journey prevented him from going to Shirdi immediately, forcing him to postpone his pilgrimage.
