What was the vow Cholkar made to Sai Baba, and what challenges did he face in fulfilling it?

📖 Chapter 15

Cholkar, who came from a poor household, made a vow to Sai Baba to secure his job. As described in Chapter 15, he pledged that if he passed his required examination, he would travel to Shirdi and distribute sugar candy (khadisakhar) in Baba's name. After his wish was granted and he passed, he faced significant financial challenges, described as the "threshold-ghat" (home expenses), which were harder to cross than a vast cliff. This delay in fulfilling the vow led him to give up sugar as a personal penance until he could finally make the journey to Shirdi and complete his promise.
