After being left for dead by the thieves, Kashiram eventually regained consciousness. As Chapter 0 recounts, he had such complete faith in Sai Baba that he refused to go to a hospital for treatment, insisting instead, 'Take me to Shirdi.' He was brought there, and upon Maharaj's instructions, Madhavrao Deshpande treated his injuries. By Sai Baba's grace, Kashiram's health improved and he fully recovered. For his courageous actions in fighting off the armed thieves, Kashiram received a notable honor: a sword gifted to him by the Bombay government. He lived for some years after this event.
