What was the significance of the two ceremonial flags at the Ram Navami fair?

During the Ram Navami fair, a grand procession would take two large ceremonial flags to the Masjid, where they were tied at either end. According to Chapter 0, these flags were important symbols of devotion from two prominent individuals. One flag was provided by Ra. Shankarrao Raghunath Deshpande, also known as Nanasaheb Nimonkar. The second flag came from Damu Shet Kasar of Ahmednagar.
