What was the significance of the Chavadi in Shirdi, particularly for the devotee Amir Shakkar?

📖 Chapter 22

The Chavadi, despite its dilapidated and unsanitary state, held immense significance as a place of spiritual trial and blessing. As detailed in Chapter 22, the building was old, filled with pests, damp, and generally uncomfortable. However, Sai Baba instructed a devotee named Amir Shakkar, who was suffering from rheumatism, to stay there for nine months. This seemingly harsh instruction was a test of faith. The true importance of the Chavadi for Amir was that it provided him with constant opportunities for Baba's darshan. Baba would pass by daily on his alms rounds and also came there every evening, allowing Amir to see him without effort. On alternate nights, Baba slept in the Chavadi, offering Amir the rare privilege of close companionship and conversation.
