What was the significance of giving books to Baba in Shirdi, and did it always go as planned?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 27

Devotees in Shirdi believed that having a book blessed by Sai Baba would lead to the acquisition of merit and supreme welfare. As detailed in Chapter 27, they would bring sacred texts like the Five-Jeweled Gita or Bhaktaleelamrut, give them to Baba, and hope to receive them back as a blessing. However, this required patience, and the outcome was not always what they expected. Baba, knowing the state of the devotee, would often take the book, turn its pages, and then give it to someone else, like his trusted devotee Shama, instructing him to keep it.
