What was the significance of devotees offering books to Sai Baba, and what did he often do with them?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 27

Devotees believed that having a book blessed by Sai Baba would lead to the acquisition of great merit when they read it later. According to Chapter 27, they would bring sacred texts like the Five-Jeweled Gita or the Bhagavata and place them in Baba's hands, hoping to receive them back as a blessing. However, Baba's actions were often surprising. He would take the book, turn some pages, but instead of returning it to the original owner who was eagerly waiting, he would frequently give it to his close devotee Madhavrao (Shama), instructing him to keep the book in his collection.
