The building that is now known as the Samadhi Mandir was originally planned by Bapusaheb Buti to be a temple and mansion dedicated to the deity Murlidhar. As detailed in chapter 39, the plan included a central courtyard with a throne for the Murlidhar idol. When the plan was presented to Sai Baba by Shama, Baba joyfully gave his permission, even saying, "After the temple is complete, we too shall come to stay there." He envisioned it as a place where he and his devotees would talk, walk, play, and embrace each other with love, long before it was destined to become his final resting place.
What was the original purpose for the building that ultimately became the Samadhi Mandir?
