What was the nature of Kashiram's service to Maharaj, and how did Maharaj test his devotion regarding Dakshina?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 0

Kashiram was a total devotee who served Maharaj with his body, mind, and wealth. His service included stitching a green kafni and cap, providing chillum, tobacco, firewood, and offering his entire money bag. Initially, Maharaj only took a paisa or two, but when Kashiram's pride in being a giver became an obstacle to his spiritual progress, Maharaj began to demand Dakshina relentlessly, even when Kashiram had no money and had to borrow. As mentioned in Chapter 0, this was a Leela, or divine play, designed to remove Kashiram's pride. Once Kashiram understood he did not have the power to give, his financial situation improved.
