First, Madhavrao's father-in-law sent a telegram from Nagar claiming his wife (Madhavrao's mother-in-law) was very ill. After getting Sai Baba's permission, Madhavrao immediately took a train to Nagar. Just as he arrived and got down from his carriage, Nanasahib Panshe and Appasahib Gadre, who were in town for a horse show, happened to pass by.
