Tatya Patil played an intimate and essential role in preparing Sai Baba for the nightly procession to the Chavadi. According to Chapter 37, Baba would not leave the Masjid until Tatya arrived. Once he was there, Tatya would place his hand under Baba's arm and help him to stand. This was a necessary step before Baba would prepare to leave.
