What was so unusual about how Maharaj used the wooden plank, and how did the public react to this phenomenon?

📖 Chapter 0

Maharaj's use of the wooden plank was extraordinary. Instead of placing it on the floor as intended, he hung it from the rafters of the Masjid using old rags. The Introduction chapter explains that these rags were not strong enough to support the plank, let alone Maharaj's body, yet they did so through his divine power. He would sleep on this suspended plank with four lit lamps at the corners. This sight drew curious crowds, but no one ever saw him climbing up or down from it, despite many keeping watch. Chapter 0 notes that because so many people gathered just to see this, Maharaj eventually broke the plank to remove the distraction.
