What was so mysterious about how Sai Baba slept on the suspended wooden plank in the Masjid?

The mystery surrounding Sai Baba's use of the wooden plank had several layers, as described in the Introduction (Chapter 0). Firstly, he suspended the plank from the rafters using old, weak rags that miraculously bore not only the plank's weight but also Maharaj's. Secondly, while he slept on this suspended plank, he would keep four lit lamps at its corners. The most perplexing part for onlookers was that despite many people keeping watch, no one ever saw Maharaj climbing up to or down from the plank. This inability to witness his ascent or descent made the entire spectacle a profound mystery, leading to large crowds gathering until Baba eventually broke the plank.
