What was Sai Baba's response when Jog informed him of Dev's complaint letter?

📖 Chapter 40

When Jog presented Dev's complaint, Sai Baba responded with surprise that Dev had not recognized him, and then gave a detailed explanation of how he kept his word. As recounted in Chapter 40, Baba stated that he knew the contents of the letter even before it was opened. He then clarified the events, asking Jog to tell Dev, "You did not recognize Me! Why then did you call Me?" Baba confirmed he attended the Udyapan with two others, just as he said he would, in the guise of a Sanyasi. He powerfully concluded, "for the sake of My word, I would die; but the words from My mouth shall never be otherwise," emphasizing the absolute certainty of his promise.
