What was Sai Baba's main reason for asking his devotees for Dakshina?

📖 Chapter 14

According to Chapter 14, Sai Baba's primary intention in asking for Dakshina was the purification of his devotees' hearts. Many who came to him were entirely attached to the world, and Baba believed that through the act of giving, their hearts could become pure. This practice is supported by the Shruti (Veda), which identifies giving as a technique for those eager for self-knowledge. Baba's goal was that both devotees seeking worldly gain and those seeking spiritual liberation should attain their desires, and giving Dakshina to one's Guru was presented as a beneficial means for this. He specifically used this method to help pull greed-oriented people up from the pit of greed for their own benefit.
