What was Sai Baba's daily routine concerning the sacred ash, or Udi?

📖 Chapter 33

According to Chapter 33 of the Shri Sai Satcharita, Sai Baba maintained a consistent daily practice involving Udi. He kept a sacred fire, the Dhuni, perpetually burning by offering dry logs into it. The resulting sacred ash, the Udi, was then lovingly distributed to his devotees. The text highlights that it was a well-known custom for Baba to give Udi to devotees when they sought his permission to leave Shirdi; receiving the Udi was considered the true sign of his consent. Furthermore, it is mentioned that throughout the day—morning, afternoon, and evening—Baba would ensure that no one departed from his presence empty-handed, always providing them with this sacred ash.
