What was Sai Baba's daily practice regarding the sacred ash, or Udi, as described in Chapter 33?

According to Chapter 33 of the Sai Satcharitra, Sai Baba had a consistent daily practice involving Udi. He would collect Dakshina, purchase firewood, and offer the logs into his sacred fire, known as the Dhuni, which was kept constantly burning. The ash that remained from this fire was the Udi he would distribute. As the chapter states, Baba would apply this Udi to devotees and would not send anyone away empty-handed, giving it out in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. This was a well-known daily ritual. Furthermore, when devotees were leaving Shirdi, the act of Baba giving them Udi was understood as his true permission to depart, making them enthusiastic about their return journey.
