What was Sai Baba's daily practice involving Udi as described in Chapter 33 of the Sai Satcharitra?

📖 Chapter 33

According to Chapter 33 of the Sai Satcharitra, Sai Baba had a consistent daily practice involving Udi, or sacred ash. He maintained a perpetually burning sacred fire, known as the Dhuni, into which he would offer bundles of dry firewood. The resulting ash was the Udi that he would distribute generously. The text states that Baba would not send any devotee away empty-handed, giving them Udi in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. This chapter also highlights that when devotees were ready to leave Shirdi, receiving Udi from Baba was considered the formal granting of permission to depart, a practice known to all his followers.
