What was Sai Baba's approach to the reading of sacred scriptures in Shirdi, and why did he encourage it?

According to the accounts in Chapter 18, Sai Baba held the reading of sacred texts in very high regard, viewing it as essential for the salvation and welfare of his followers. He instituted a daily practice where divinely inspired books were read aloud in Sathe's Wada. Baba's profound skill in bestowing grace was demonstrated as he would actively send devotees, even those who had just arrived to see him, to go and listen to the readings.
