Madhavrao, also called Shama, served as the essential intermediary and a key observer in the interaction. According to Chapter 25, he was responsible for delivering Damu Anna's letter and placing it at Baba's feet. He then had a revealing conversation with Baba, where he witnessed Baba's clairvoyance firsthand before reading the letter aloud as instructed. Shama was also the one who conveyed Baba's discouraging reply to Damu Anna. Importantly, it was also hinted by Madhavrao in that same reply letter that Damu Anna should visit in person, as "There is a difference between hearing and seeing." This suggestion directly led to Damu Anna's subsequent journey to Shirdi.
