What was Cholkar's vow to Sai Baba, and why did it take him a while to fulfill it?

📖 Chapter 15

Cholkar's vow to Sai Baba, as described in Chapter 15, was born out of desperation for his livelihood. He needed to pass an examination to make his job permanent. He made a firm resolve that if he passed through Baba's grace, he would present himself at Baba's feet in Shirdi and distribute sugar candy (khadisakhar). While his wish was granted and he passed the exam, there was a significant delay in fulfilling the vow. The text explains this was due to his financial situation, stating that for a worldly man, the "threshold-ghat" of home expenses is very difficult to cross. This indicates that his poverty and the cost of daily living prevented him from making the journey to Shirdi right away.
