Balasaheb Deo's primary struggle was his inability to maintain a daily reading of the Dnyaneshwari, despite having a great desire to do so. As Chapter 41 describes, he found that whenever he tried, some obstacle would arise and his resolution would not hold without interruption. Even when he took a three-month leave from work, he read other books but could not bring himself to read the Dnyaneshwari. When he did attempt it, doubts would surface in his heart, making the reading feel superficial and preventing him from developing a true love for the text. This frustration grew to the point where he couldn't even manage to read five verses (Ovis) daily with any regularity.
