What was Baba's response to the strict rules the villagers of Shirdi imposed during an epidemic, and how did He demonstrate His view?

📖 Chapter 23

During an epidemic in Shirdi, the terrified villagers proclaimed that no carts could enter the village. Chapter 23 states that this superstitious belief did not please Baba at all; He considered it a result of bad ideas and ignorance. The villagers would make rules, and Baba would often counter them. He demonstrated this when a cart filled with much-needed firewood arrived. The villagers were about to turn it away to follow their rule, but Baba intervened. He personally stood before the cart, giving the cartman courage and breaking the villagers' stubbornness. The cart was then allowed to enter and unload, with no one daring to protest Baba's action.
