What vow did Cholkar make to Sai Baba, and why did he have trouble fulfilling it?

As described in Chapter 15, Cholkar was from a poor household and his job depended on him passing an examination. He made a vow to Sai Baba that if he passed, he would go to Shirdi and distribute sugar candy (khadisakhar) in Baba's name. After his wish was granted and he passed the exam, he found it difficult to fulfill the vow due to financial constraints. The text explains that for a worldly man, the "threshold-ghat," or home expenses, are very difficult to cross. He had to keep postponing his journey from 'today to tomorrow' because he couldn't afford the trip and felt he couldn't go empty-handed.
