What unique spiritual trials did Maharaj impose on Kashiram, and did any of them involve animals?

The source material describes a specific spiritual test Maharaj (Sai Baba) orchestrated for his devotee Kashiram, but it did not involve animals. To cure Kashiram of the pride he felt in being a giver, Maharaj began demanding excessive amounts of Dakshina from him. As explained in Chapter 0, this continued until Kashiram ran out of money and even had to borrow, which ultimately made him realize he did not truly possess the 'power to give.' The only mention of feeding animals is a separate practice where Kashiram fed sugar to ants on the advice of another saint, Janakidas Baba.
