According to Chapter 20 of the Sai Satcharitra, after the midday Aarti, Sai Baba would come to the edge of the Masjid. Devotees would rush to his feet, and he would lovingly distribute Udi to them. The text describes how Baba would fill his handfuls with Udi and place it into the cupped hands of the devotees. With boundless love, he would also apply the Udi to their foreheads with his thumb.
