What specific vow did Cholkar make to Sai Baba, and why was its fulfillment delayed?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 15

According to Chapter 15, Cholkar's vow was directly tied to his livelihood. Facing an important examination to secure his job, he made a firm resolve: 'If I pass by your grace, I will present myself at your feet And distribute sugar candy (khadisakhar) in your name.' After his wish was granted and he passed, he could not immediately go to Shirdi. The text explains that the 'threshold-ghat' of home expenses was very difficult for a worldly man to cross. He needed to have something in hand for the journey and could not go empty-handed, so he had to keep postponing the trip, pushing it from 'today to tomorrow' until he could afford it.
