What specific role does the Guru play in helping a devotee become fearless of death?

📖 Chapter 37

In Chapter 37, the Guru is presented as the essential guide to conquering the fear of death, which is called 'the great fear of worldly existence.' The text advises that to become fearless, a devotee must 'hold firmly to the Guru’s pair of feet.' The Guru's primary role is to grant the 'non-dual intellect' to the surrendered devotee. This special intellect dispels the illusion of duality, which is the very source of fear. By surrendering one's entire being—body, speech, and mind—to the Satguru, the devotee is relieved of all worldly worries. The Guru effectively removes the ignorance that causes the perception of manifoldness, thus ending the cycle of birth and death and leading the devotee to a state of absolute fearlessness.
