What specific ritualistic actions did Sai Baba perform right before departing the Masjid for the Chavadi?

Just before setting out for the Chavadi, Sai Baba performed a distinct sequence of actions. Chapter 37 details that after Tatya Patil had helped Him prepare, Baba would first go to a bundle of firewood kept against the wall and touch it for a moment with His right big toe. Immediately after this, He would personally wave His right hand over the burning dhuni flame to extinguish it.
