Chapter 37 describes a distinct set of rituals Sai Baba performed before departing for the Chavadi. After Tatya Patil helped Him up, Baba, wearing His kafni and carrying His satka and pipe, would first go to a wall where firewood was kept. He would move His right big toe at that spot for a moment. Following this, He would personally wave His right hand over a burning flame to extinguish it. Only after completing these personal rituals would Sai Baba set out for the Chavadi, at which point the music and celebrations would commence.
