What made Sai Baba so famous that people traveled to get his darshan?

📖 Chapter 29

According to Chapter 29, people developed a strong desire for Sai Baba's darshan because his fame had spread widely from "ear to ear." His reputation was built on his qualities as a great saint who was patient, generous, and self-controlled. A significant part of his fame came from his extraordinary and steadfast charity. The text describes how he would abundantly distribute money to the poor, needy, and even passing wayfarers on a daily basis. Crowds of singers, performers, and devotees were drawn to Shirdi. It was this widespread knowledge of his generous disposition and compassionate nature that motivated groups, like the pilgrims from Madras, to travel to Shirdi to see him.
