What lesson did Maharaj teach Kashiram about pride and generosity?

📖 Chapter 0

The story of Kashiram illustrates a profound lesson about the ego of giving. Kashiram, who was a cloth merchant, once had pride in his financial ability to give. Maharaj orchestrated a Leela, or divine play, where Kashiram's financial situation deteriorated to the point where even his grocer stopped extending him credit. As Chapter 0 explains, this experience was designed to make Kashiram realize that he did not possess the inherent power to give. Once he understood this and his pride vanished, his financial condition miraculously began to improve, and he became prosperous again. This experience completely removed his anxiety about whether Maharaj received Dakshina daily.
