What kind of worldly attachments and personal pride does the text identify as obstacles to knowledge?

📖 Chapter 50

The text points to several forms of delusion and pride that function as Maya or ignorance, preventing the dawn of true knowledge. As explained in Chapter 50, a primary delusion is the identification with the physical body, expressed in the thought, 'I am the body.' This leads to attachments, such as considering 'wife and home' as 'mine,' and being ensnared by the 'ropes of thirst for sons, cattle, etc.' Furthermore, the text warns against intellectual pride. Even those who call themselves wise 'Pandits' may possess no true happiness if they harbor great pride, thinking, 'Skilled in scriptures, possessing genius, there is no other equal to me.' This pride is a significant cause for dissatisfaction and must be removed for knowledge to arise.
