Udi is the sacred ash sourced from the Dhuni, the fire that burned constantly day and night in Baba's Masjid. According to Chapter 33, whenever devotees, whether small or great, came for his Darshan and were about to leave, Baba would give them this ash. He would take handfuls of it and give it as a benediction or Prasad. The text further describes how he would apply the Udi to their foreheads with his own thumb and place his entire hand on their heads, wishing for their welfare. This distribution of Udi, also called Vibhuti, was a daily and unlimited practice for Baba.
What is Udi, and how did Sai Baba distribute it to his followers?
