What is the text's perspective on seeking heaven versus living a spiritual life on Earth?

📖 Chapter 37

Chapter 37 presents a critical view of desiring heaven. It argues that the heavenly home is merely a place for temporary sensual enjoyment, from which one inevitably falls after their accumulated merit is exhausted. The text provocatively states that the pleasure Indra experiences in heaven is of the same nature as a donkey wallowing in a dung-heap. In contrast, the earth-world, though life is fleeting, is considered of profound importance. It is a place where one can offer every action to God and attain a state of fearlessness, which is deemed far superior to the transient pleasures of any celestial realm.
