The story of Bhagwantrao Kshirsagar, found in Chapter 4, is a beautiful example of Sai Baba's care for his devotees' spiritual welfare. Bhagwantrao's father was a great devotee of Vitthal, but after his death, Bhagwantrao neglected the family traditions. He stopped the daily worship and food offerings to the Vitthal idol and even skipped the annual death anniversary rituals. When Bhagwantrao came to Shirdi, Baba, who called his father a friend, revealed that he had pulled him there for a reason. Baba stated, "He never offers food (Naivedya); he keeps me hungry too. He keeps Vitthal hungry too." By saying this, Baba was reminding Bhagwantrao of his neglected spiritual duties and intended to guide him back to the path of worship.
What is the story of Bhagwantrao Kshirsagar and why did Sai Baba say he was keeping Him hungry?
