What is the significance of the Guru in one's spiritual and worldly life?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 18

According to the teachings in Chapter 18, the Guru holds a position of supreme importance, described as God manifest and essentially the Supreme Lord, the Brahman beyond the beyond. The Guru is likened to a mother, a father, and a protector, even when God might be angry. In worldly matters, the Guru acts as a director of activity, while on the spiritual path, they are a guide to penance, a teacher of righteousness, and the one who opens the eyes of the intellect to the Self. Their grace is so powerful that it can make worldly desires vanish and bestow the twin fruits of wisdom and renunciation.
