What is the significance of food donation (Annadan) as explained in Chapter 38?

📖 Chapter 38

Chapter 38 of the Sai Satcharitra extensively details the supreme virtue of food donation, or Annadan. The text explains that while different ages have different recommended practices, charity is prescribed for the Kali age, and Annadan is the foremost among all charitable deeds. It is described as the "highest secret for quenching hunger." The chapter emphasizes that food is the form of Para-Brahman (the Supreme Reality), from which all beings are born and by which they survive. Therefore, satisfying a guest with food, regardless of when they arrive, is a paramount duty. As Chapter 38 notes, even Sai Baba himself followed this worldly custom of feeding people.
