What is the relationship between ignorance (Avidya), illusion (Maya), and the ego?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 50

According to the wisdom in Chapter 50, ignorance (Avidya) is the root-foundation of the illusion (Maya) that constitutes the visible, deceptive world. This illusion is born from ignorance and gains its glory from it. The sense of 'many-ness in the One' is also a product of ignorance. Furthermore, the teachings directly connect ignorance to the ego. A person who has not shed their body-ego cannot be considered wise, and the 'seat of pride' itself is described as 'ignorance personified.' Therefore, ignorance creates the illusory world and is embodied in the persistent sense of a separate, prideful self.
